Much as described below, but I also ventured upstairs, where there is more seating and, more importantly, toilets too. Back down to where I'd left my beer - it was Beartown Kodiak, tasting better than in the Olde Kings Head earlier, so NBSS 3.5 here, or maybe 4 at a pinch.

A very good shop conversion ,as you enter it does look like a cafe with mismatched old furniture giving charm,a small wood burner to the right yet up a couple of steps to the right is the bar with a beer menu along the far wall.During the day coffee, tea and cakes will dominate ,its family friendly yet there will always be some blokes having a beer. The upstairs was unvisited by me,it can be hired for events.
The friendly guv'nor was busy making coffee when I arrived but was happy to offer beer advice. The Three handpumps were all drawing Beartown ales in Lit,Best Bitter and Garage (NBSS 3.5). there were also 3 craft keg options, two from Beartown and one from New Bristol while a beer menu described some exotic cans.
There is a music quiz on Wednesdays, wines are displayed in racks, and there is free wifi,it's a charming spot for a quiet pint and may be more lively in the evenings .Well worth a visit when in the Hightown district and it's close to the station.

The Wonky Pear is a single room shop converted bar that was busy with all the tables taken during a recent Thursday evening visit. In fact this place had more customers than the two local pubs combined, and it’s about a fifth of the footprint of each of them. So size really doesn’t matter! The crisp and nut covered bar counter supports three hand pumps that were drawing local Beartown Brewery’s Citra Smash, Lit and Crème Bearlee, the former being a reasonable pint. There are also seven craft keg fonts for fizz lovers. The barmaid was very friendly and I struck up a conversation with a couple of the chatty locals. I liked it in here, but anymore punters and it would have started to become uncomfortably busy.
